Join SOILGUARD in Celebrating International Day for Biological Diversity!
May 22nd marks the International Day for Biological Diversity, a day to celebrate the incredible diversity of life on our planet and take action to protect it. This year’s theme, “From Agreement to Action: Build Back Biodiversity,” emphasises the need move quickly from the recent agreement reached at COP 15 to its implementation.
As a consortium of organisations committed to promoting soil health and biodiversity, SOILGUARD recognises the urgent need to take action to protect our planet’s biodiversity. Soil biodiversity, in particular, is critical to the health of ecosystems and plays a vital role in nutrient cycling, carbon storage, and water regulation. However, soil biodiversity is threatened by various factors, including climate change, pollution, and intensive agricultural practices.
The SOILGUARD project is developing new approaches and tools to promote soil health and mitigate the effects of climate change. By supporting the implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework and taking action to protect soil biodiversity, we can help build more resilient ecosystems that can better withstand environmental stresses.
This International Day for Biological Diversity, we invite you to join us in celebrating the incredible diversity of life on our planet and taking action to protect it. Let us work together to build back better and create a healthier, more sustainable future for all.
Stay tuned for updates on our upcoming activities and events related to soil biodiversity and conservation.
